KDW was born in 2004, during the Milano Design Week. In 2016 it landed in China with the aim of reinterpreting and developing the idea of ”design for kids” in the different sectors, from the product to the furnishings passing through services, architecture, etc.
At the same time, KDW has used its global resources to promote a series of interactive experiences and activities between children and parents to increase curiosity and creativity in design and art, and at the same time to encourage the latter to create a relationship aimed at “planning with, by and for” children with the younger generation. We at CILAB have collaborated in this adventure by participating in talks, forums and workshops.
During KDW 2017, we did a step forward, using the results of Co-Design Hub in China during Beijing Design Week 2016. This time, children could design with parents, designers and professionals, completing tasks, playing with art installations and doing workshops.
CILAB took part in forum that talked about co-design with children. Thanks to Beijing Design Week, it was also possible to emphasise the role of design in changing lives and thoughts of children and parents. During this step, professionals of the branch, talked about it, also asking how could be possible to integrate social innovation in families.
