According to Master’s Committee meeting, in response to the COVID-19 emergency, the Specializing Master in Design for Kids & Toys is going to manage a Penta-Workshop thanks to the partnership and collaboration offered by CILAB (Creative Industries Lab) to different Design Schools: Italy (Politecnico di Milano), China (3 Universities in Ningbo thanks to Ningbo Hefeng), Argentina (Universidad Austral in Buenos Aires), Australia (UNSW Sydney), Spain (University of Navarra) and Brazil (UDF – Centro Universitário UDF), supported by the partnership with H-FARM and Clementoni. The Penta-Workshop starts on 22nd June and ends on the 30th of July, 6 weeks in total.
The workshop aims at exploring scenarios of “product-service system” innovation for the world of Kids & Toys. Designing and innovating toys, plays, places, furniture, apparel, food, services, laboratories, events and much more, by always putting the child at the centre of any creative process.

To foster the collaboration among the different participants, during the first week of the Penta-Workshop, each University holds one lecture regarding its particular perspective and expertise about the Brief. All the lectures will be recorded in order to allow students to freely access them live or at any time.
The Penta-workshop is organized following the three main phases of the design thinking process from the inspiration to the implementation phase. Each phase has a punctual 48h Hackathon, thanks to which the students from the different universities will be organized in mixed groups and they will be asked to collaborate in order to share and to identify common insights regarding the brief and the specific design phase. Right after the Hackathon, each group of students and teacher from the different Design Schools will start research and designing activities. The progress will be shared by means of weekly Pitching sessions. The stages will be opened until the end of the Hackathon thus each multi-team is asked to organize the time at disposal by working simultaneously or by turn.
The Penta-Workshop offers a great opportunity of experimentation and creativity, by exploring the remote working, involving experts and passionate participants, and promoting international cooperation.
